While the Cleveland HALO Hybrid Utility is intended more for the average golfer, the Cleveland LDI Hybrid Utility Iron (LDI stands for "Launcher Driving Iron") golf club is intended more for the lower handicap players.
The Cleveland LDI golf club comes in both steel and graphite shafts, but does not offer as many lofts as their HALO Hybrid Utility golf club. The LDI Hybrid Utility golf club has a steel shaft by True Temper called the Dynamic Gold Superlite. This is an excellent steel shaft and Cleveland has made a very good choice using the new lighter version of the Dynamic Gold in their utility golf clubs. The LDI has a graphite shaft called the Alida NV 105. This shaft is heavier than other hybrid utility shafts.
The Cleveland LDI Hybrid Utility Iron is intended to replace your long irons. The LDI comes in an 18 degree or 21 degree loft. They're not really intended to substitute any of your fairway woods. If you want to use a Cleveland LDI Hybrid Utility Iron to replace one of you irons then:
- replace your 2 iron with the Cleveland LDI 18 (18 degrees)
- replace your 3 iron with the Cleveland LDI 21 (21 degrees)
